Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. The name she is most commonly used for her professional work is Aurora and often stylized with lowercase letters, such in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by the label Decca Records in May 2015 and received a lot of praise from music bloggers and the media. Half the World Away from the band Oasis was recorded for an ad campaign for John Lewis, and Nature Boy is a Nat King Cole cover. Her name was also recognized through a tweet from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed her song Runaway. Enjoy the celebration of this special event. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is finding an old grand piano hidden in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see the possibilities it offered. Her parents May-Britt along with Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to study music, not for a profession or a pastime, but to grow. The singer began to write lyrics of her own. She acknowledges Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, along with Bjork as being her influences. Her mother was supportive of her performing her songs in public, not so that she could gain fame but rather to let others know how important they are and the good they do for the world. She was suggested by her mother to perform her songs publicly to help people realize the importance of their work and how they can affect the world. This was not known to her family members until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora never dreamed of being a famous singer. As she says, she just enjoys writing songs. According to her music, is the best way to express anything.
